FIME EURO PAIRS SEMI-FINAL TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT
GREAT BRITAIN boss Olly Allen has put his faith in the red-hot Speedway of Nations2 youngsters for the European Pairs Semi-Final.
In an unprecedented move, Luke Harrison, Will Cairns and Cooper Rushen have been called up for the major event in Macon, France on Saturday night.
Allen believes that the trio, who finished fourth in the SoN2 in Prague last month, can benefit from a crack at the Senior Euro Championship.
It’s a huge compliment for flying kids Cairns and Rushen who are still only 16-years-old while Harrison is just 19.
Allen said: “It’s all about experience. After being with them at Speedway of Nations 2 in Prague and seeing how they all prepared and performed, I felt that this opportunity could really help them progress.
“There’s obviously plenty to learn for them and I feel it will be beneficial for them and Great Britain in the long run if they do these types of meetings now.
“I was excited to see them all race in Prague. I already watch their scores closely and I’ve seen Cooper a bit more first-hand at King’s Lynn and I’ve been very impressed by him.
“Their performances have impressed me enough to put them into a high-level senior event and see what they can achieve and learn.
“In recent weeks they’ve all done well in the European Under-19 Championship. Will won his round and both Cooper and Luke qualified. Will has also now qualified for the SGP2 World Championship.
“The league form for all three is good in the Premiership and Championship. It’s also great to see Will and Cooper doing the Under-24 league in Poland. I think that’s brilliant experience for them.”
