SQUAD ANNOUNCEMENT Speedway World Cup 2026!

GREAT BRITAIN boss Olly Allen is ready for a “huge challenge” ahead in the World Cup.

The national side announced their squad for the Semi-Final on May 1 in Landshut when they face the home nation Germany, Czech Republic and Ukraine.

Allen has revealed his seven-man line-up of Captain Robert Lambert, World No.3 Dan Bewley, Tom Brennan, Adam Ellis, Leon Flint, Charles Wright and Dan Thompson. Five of those, including the reserve, will be selected for the first Semi-Final.

Only the winners of each Semi will join Poland and Australia in the Final on August 29 in the PGE Narodowy in Warsaw,

Allen said: “It’s certainly not going to be easy, it's a huge challenge. With it being back in the five-man World Cup format, it’s a massive opportunity for more of our fringe riders to step it up a level.

“Tom and Adam were in the side in the last World Cup when we came so close to victory in 2023.

“Robert and Dan will lead the national side as they have done so brilliantly over the past six years.

“Tai (Woffinden) has chosen not to race in the World Cup Semi-Final while he gets back into racing.

“He has sensibly decided to focus on getting back to full fitness in his own time and, perhaps, is not ready for the world stage just yet.

“We do have some injury concerns right now with Adam and Charles. Obviously we are monitoring that closely right now. Leon and Dan have shown great progress and warrant their call-up.

“We are confident that whoever is selected can do the job required in Landshut.

“The Germans on their home circuit will be very difficult while the Czechs and Ukraine can be outstanding on continental tracks.

“However we are led by two of the best riders in the world and Tom is also racing with great ability right now for Ipswich and in Poland. We will be ready for Landshut in a couple of weeks.”
